A Barn in The Cornfield

Oliver Spedding

We are proud to present a collaboration between one of our contributing Photographers, Markus Brehm; New York based Underwear designer Baldrick Benjamin (who we featured in our Lifestyle section recently) and Model/Actor Oliver Spedding.

Although you have seen images of Oliver in ADL Magazine (and other publications) before, it gives us great pleasure to fully introduce Oliver to our readers in this Interview.

Tell us a little bit about yourself? How did you get into acting and modelling (how were you “discovered”)?

Hey, I am Oliver, I have a plastering/decorating business, I model and play football.
I go to the gym most days to let off steam and to keep myself fit for football, in shape for modelling and for my own self confidence.

What has been your favourite shoot or campaign to date and why?

I love working with Markus Brehm, he is the best I’ve worked with. Can’t wait to do a shoot with him next year with my soon to be wife.

How do you choose the photographers you would like to work with?

I get contacted by photographers, if the deal is good I’ll take the work.

What is your greatest strength, as a model?

My greatest strength, erm I don’t know maybe my 6 pack? I’ve worked hard on that. People say I have nice eyes too.

If you were to walk down the fashion runway, what would you choose to wear and why?

I’ve always wanted to wear a big fur coat so maybe that or working for Burberry would be nice.

How do you prepare for a Photo shoot or a day on the set?

I have a nice gym session including core training the night before the shoot, followed by a nice steam room and face mask.
Get the clothing/props etc I need and any products so I am we’ll prepared and have options on set.

What inspires you as an actor and model?

I had an abuser ex partner who used to put me down and make me think I was ugly but then I met the love of my life. She is so positive and gives me the confidence and drive to achieve anything. She has made me believe that I am not that ugly lol.
So middle fingers up to my ex and all the negative haters.

How is social media impacting your modelling career?

I used to post a bit too much. I realise I don’t need to prove myself to anyone.

I just post selected pics from shoots, my football games, gym stuff and me and my beautiful partner.   Was advised to keep our profiles apart to get more work so nothing much about but once we start shooting with Markus and we are married then we will forget that rule because we are proud of each other and very happy.

We all have guilty pleasures, what’s yours?

My guilty pleasure is playing my Xbox. I still love gaming. I don’t get to as much as I would like though.

If you have any tips or advise to give to a young and inspiring model, what would it be?

Be confident of course, shut everything out when you do your thing, don’t listen to any negativity or negative people just stay positive with positive people.
Do what makes you happy, not others.
